Classes
Math
There are three different math classes offered in 8th grade.
Course 3 - learn math skills that will ready them for Algebra in high school.
Algebra 1 - basic algebraic skills in a logical order, including relations, functions, graphing, systems of equations, radicals, factoring polynomials, rational equations, probability and statistics, and quadratic functions. It emphasizes practical methods of solving first- and second-degree equations and inequalities.
Geometry - the study of shapes.

English
This course includes four strands of instruction including: communication and media literacy, reading, writing, and research. Students will continue to strengthen their skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Writing at this level focuses on narrative, expository, and persuasive writing styles. Students will prepare to take the Grade 8 Reading and Writing SOL tests.
Social Studies/Civics and Economics
Students will learn about the government and economics.
